Independent IB Evaluation Validates QMC's Education for Life
Independent evaluators for the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme recently confirmed that QMC is successfully delivering an education that extends well beyond academic achievement - it provides education for life.
QMC’s entire educational journey from Years 1-13 was extensively evaluated by the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) in 2026. This rigorous independent international review recognised QMC for its strong leadership, student wellbeing, academic excellence, future-focused learning and commitment to continuous improvement.
The review found a school community united by a shared commitment to learning, wellbeing and student success. Evaluators observed strong alignment between the College's values, strategic direction and day-to-day practice, providing independent validation of QMC's commitment to developing future-focused learners who thrive academically, personally and beyond school.
Evaluators highlighted that QMC has built an educational ecosystem that consistently delivers on its vision. They expressed that we were one of the best schools they’ve ever evaluated – praiseworthy validation considering the IBO reviews some 6,200 schools internationally.
“Queen Margaret College is a modern, inclusive and forward-focused school that demonstrates a strong commitment to the IB philosophy, a culture of learning and the holistic development of its students.”
- IB Evaluators, 2026
The evaluation identified the following key strengths of QMC:
- Providing exceptional world-class education for life
- Strong leadership and governance
- Student wellbeing and support
- High-quality learning and teaching
- A connected educational journey from Years 1-13
- A strong commitment to continuous improvement
Exceptional education from Year 1 to Year 13
An IB Continuum School since 2009, QMC provides a connected educational journey from Years 1-13 through the Primary Years Programme (PYP, Years 1-6), Middle Years Programme (MYP, Years 7-11) and IB Diploma Programme (Years 12-13). The evaluation examined every stage of this journey, providing an independent assessment of how effectively the College supports students from their earliest years through to graduation.
This independent review validated the strength of QMC’s world-class education, finding that our implementation of all three IB programmes remains closely aligned with international standards, benchmarks and best practice. The evaluators highlighted QMC's strong culture of evidence-informed continuous improvement and our determination to keep building on our strengths.
"There is a strong sense of trust within the community in the capacity of QMC to empower young women to live, learn and lead courageously." – IB Evaluators, 2026
Three Independent Reviews. One Consistent Story.
The IB Evaluation one of three significant independent research and review processes undertaken by QMC in recent years.
While each study had a different purpose and methodology, all arrived at remarkably similar conclusions. Together, they reinforce QMC's strengths in academic excellence, student wellbeing, future readiness and continuous improvement.
The consistency across these independent evaluations provides valuable confidence that the strengths identified are not isolated findings, but part of a broader and well-established pattern of QMC preparing students to thrive academically, personally and beyond school.
Together, these findings validate how we’re delivering on QMC’s vision for education and our commitment to developing future-focused learners who are equipped to navigate a rapidly evolving world with confidence and purpose. Find out more about the other research.
