Transport

Queen Margaret College’s central location makes it highly accessible via public transport, no matter where your journey might begin. We also offer a QMC private school bus for Wellingtons Western Suburbs that bring students direct to the front gate, see below for more information or email reception@qmc.school.nz

Public Transportation

Our campus is a 10-minute stroll from Wellington Train Station, making rail an efficient option for students and staff. Several bus stops are located within minutes of the college, providing additional commuting options.

NEW QMC Charter Bus – Lower Hutt, Petone & Eastbourne Drop Spot (Term 3, 2026) EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST NOW OPEN!

We are pleased to share an exciting transport update for families living in the Hutt Valley, Petone and Eastbourne areas. From the start of Term 3, 2026, QMC is planning to introduce a new charter bus service (private service, not a public bus or train). The proposed route will include stops through Lower Hutt (route to be confirmed), Petone foreshore, with an Eastbourne parent drop spot, before travelling directly to QMC, operating morning and afternoon services.

To help us confirm the viability of this service, we now invite families to complete our Expression of Interest form. Your response is important in helping us determine routes, stops and overall demand. (Please note: this is not a confirmed booking).

Indicative Costs & Terms

  • Estimated cost: approximately $600 per term, charged to your school account
  • This equates to around $13 per day for a return trip (approximately $2 more than a return student train fare but the bus brings students straight to QMC on Hobson Street)
  • No one-way fares are available
  • Families will need to commit to a full term in advance
  • Charges will be applied at the start of each term
  • No refunds will be issued for days the service is not used
  • The bus will display ‘Queen Margaret College’ as its destination
  • Students should be at their stop 5 minutes before the scheduled time

Any queries should be directed to reception on 04 473 7160 or reception@qmc.school.nz
