Associate Governor Programme

Developing the next generation for governance roles

The College Board of Governors, through the Alumnae Office, is implementing an Associate Governor programme which commenced in 2023.

This is a programme, open to young, Wellington based Old Girls who have graduated from Year 13 within the last 10 years.

It’s an opportunity to participate and contribute to QMC Board meetings over a 24-month term and to be mentored by highly skilled and experienced current board members.

Associate Governors would have no voting rights and would not form part of any quorums – the programme it is intended as a learning and development opportunity.

Why are we doing this?

  • To bring a fresh perspective and insights into the QMC boardroom and tap into the skill sets of a generation that does things differently
  • To develop next generation governors who have the opportunity to learn from the best
  • Develop and foster our new alumna capability and talent to improve governance levels in tomorrow’s boardrooms, and connectedness with past students
  • Help address the experience gap faced by skilled younger professionals seeking to move into senior corporate governance roles
  • Increased diversity of skillset and demographics across the board.

Associate Governors would have no voting rights and would not form part of any quorums – the programme it is intended as a learning and development opportunity.
