Queen's Grace
Ballroom Dancing
Step into a world of elegance and excitement with Queen's Grace ballroom dancing!
In this supportive and friendly class led by expert instructors, all students will find a place to shine, from beginners to experienced dancers. Queen's Grace students will develop strong foundational skills in ballroom dance, improve fitness, practice poise and focus, and gain confidence—all while having fun!
By the end of the course, students will not only master the graceful art of ballroom dance but also enhance their overall health and well-being. Join Queen's Grace and experience the enchanting rhythm, graceful movements and captivating charm of ballroom dance!

Make your move with CheckMates! and discover a world of infinite possibilities!
In this dynamic and inclusive chess programme, students of all skill levels will enhance their mastery of the game. CheckMates! presents an engaging approach to learning chess, making the game accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Students will develop strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Their creativity, confidence, and focus will thrive in a fun and supportive environment.
By the end of the course, students will not only master the intricacies of chess but also foster a lifelong passion for the game. Queen of Hearts
Service and community volunteering
Become a Queen of Hearts and experience the joy of giving back and making a difference!
The Queen of Hearts programme offers students a chance to engage in meaningful service activities and develop civic responsibility. Students will participate in projects that benefit both the school and the wider community, including our school charities Wellington Free Ambulance, Embracing Hearts and Who Did You Help Today?
Guided by Service Prefect Madeleine Wilson, students will gain leadership skills, enhance teamwork and collaboration skills, build self-confidence, and cultivate empathy. By the programme's end, students will proudly claim their crown as compassionate and proactive future leaders.

Traditional Greek dancing

Join us for an unforgettable journey into the world of traditional Greek dance! Proudly brought to you by members of the Greek Orthodox Community of Wellington as part of our Hellenic Hangout series, this course offers students the chance to learn authentic traditional Greek dances with an expert instructor.
Students will enhance their social skills, fitness, and coordination while developing cultural awareness and empathy. Our course includes both traditional and folk dances, celebrated for their camaraderie, joy, and vibrant costumes. Italian language and culture
Ciao bella! Immerse yourself in the vibrant world of Italian language and culture with Viva Italia!
This engaging course combines introductory Italian language learning with a deep dive into Italian culture and contemporary Italy. Highlights include learning to navigate an Italian town, taking a virtual visit to Rome, celebrating Martedì Grasso (Mardi Gras) by exploring Carnevale traditions and Italian masks, and participating in fun roleplaying exercises.
This course is designed to boost language skills, enhance cultural awareness, and develop cognitive abilities. Students will gain a deep appreciation for Italy’s rich cultural heritage and ignite a passion for Italy that we hope will be life-long. Viva Italia!

Civil Defence
Join the Queen's Guard and get prepared!
Civil Defence is a system that helps communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies. In this fun and engaging introduction, students will gain strategies and tools to respond quickly and confidently to civil emergencies. Students will build confidence, hone organization and problem-solving skills, and foster leadership. They will learn to work as a team, improving communication and collaboration skills.
Queen's Guard will also instill a sense of civic responsibility and awareness about community resilience. By the end of the course, students will be equipped to handle emergencies, both in theory and practice, contributing to their personal development. Hip Hop dance

Led by tutor Caitlin Peetz from our popular Years 1-6 Cross-Curricular Programme, this engaging course combines energetic aerobic routines with creative dance moves. Crown Crew is designed to boost physical fitness, enhance coordination and develop students' cognitive skills.
This course is for everyone, from beginners to students who have taken Caitlin's hip hop classes before. It offers a fun and supportive environment to hone hip hop skills and a chance to de-stress and burn off energy. Become a hip hop queen and dance your way to better wellbeing with Crown Crew!

Marudào Karate
Unleash your inner warrior with Karate Queens!
Learn Marudào Karate, a fusion of traditional Japanese Karate with traditional Chinese Wushu. Proudly brought to you in partnership with the World Marudào Karate Organisation's award-winning Honbu dojo in Berhampore, students will be taught by an experienced, black-belt teacher. In this safe and empowering course, students will improve their physical fitness and mental wellness. They will train slowly and safely, progressing at their own pace in line with their ability and level of fitness. Get ready to kick-start your journey with Karate Queens!
*As a special offer, students can also train for free at the Berhampore dojo during their time in Karate Queens to help them work towards a grading if they wish.

Global Queens
International pen pal programme
Make friends and discover the world with Global Queens!
Become an international pen pal and connect with peers from other IB World Schools, including Chile, Japan, Scotland, and beyond. Guided by our instructor, students will connect with their pen pal digitally but will also learn the art of letter writing, and truly experience being a pen pal. They'll receive topic starters, tips, and creative ideas for exchanging messages, letters, postcards, art, and more!
Students will gain access to international peers, learn about diverse cultures, see their own world through new eyes, and start thinking globally. This programme will hone students' literacy skills, boost creativity, broaden their cultural awareness, and help them develop international friendships – while also enjoying the thrill of receiving 'snail mail'!

Bollywood Dance
Discover the vibrant world of Bollywood dance with Queens of Bollywood!
Proudly brought to you in partnership with the Shivam Dance Academy of New Zealand (SDANZ). This course provides a supportive and fun environment for all students to flourish, regardless of dance experience.
Through dynamic Bollywood dance sessions, students will enhance their fitness and focus, boost their confidence and coordination, and develop creativity and self-expression. In this foundation self-defence course, students will learn how to be aware of what’s going on in the environment around them and how to protect themselves from physical attacks, no matter their strength or size. Queen's Shield will include physical training and boundary-setting skills.
Students will develop situational awareness, enhanced motor skills, and improved strength and coordination. They will foster discipline and build confidence, assertiveness and self-esteem in a positive and engaging setting. Unlock your potential and become your own hero with Queen's Shield!

Serene Queen
Yoga and mindfulness
Become a Serene Queen and radiate calm and positivity!
(NOW CLOSED for Term 1)
In today’s fast-paced world, yoga and mindfulness are fast becoming crucial life skills. In this positive, relaxing and affirming course, we introduce students to key yoga asanas (poses) and teach a range of mindfulness concepts, tools and strategies.
Students will develop confidence and a positive mindset. They will practice creativity and hone emotional regulation and focus. By the end of the course, we aim for students to have the ability to create calm, find inner serenity and practice resilience no matter what life throws at them.

All Queen's Edge courses are charged per term to your QMC Account. Our booking system, Trybooking, will list the event as ‘free’, this is because the fee will not be taken by Trybooking, but instead charged to your QMC Account.
In order to cover the upfront costs associated with conducting the Queen's Edge programme and courses, refunds are not available if a student is not able to attend any of the days.
