What is an IB Evaluation?

As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, QMC undergoes a comprehensive programme evaluation approximately every five years. This is not a simple compliance exercise or self-assessment. It is a formal international review process designed to ensure IB World Schools continue to meet the global standards expected by the IB and deliver high-quality learning experiences for students.

The International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) evaluation team of international and experienced IB educators examined the complete Year 1-3 experience delivered at QMC.

What does this independent evaluation cover?

The IBO evaluation team reviewed evidence and documentation, met with students, staff and school leaders, and evaluated the College's own self-study and reflection. This rigorous approach enabled them to independently assess every stage of the QMC educational experience, from Year 1 through to graduation.

The evaluation process includes:

  • Evaluation of QMC’s leadership and governance
  • Review of QMC’s curriculum and assessment practices
  • Analysis of student wellbeing and learning support
  • Submission of programme documentation and evidence
  • Extensive self-study and reflection
  • Interviews and discussions with QMC leaders, teachers and members of the school community
  • Independent assessment by international IB evaluation teams across all programmes offered by QMC

Who were the people from QMC involved in the evaluation?

Many QMC students, parents and staff contributed to the IB Evaluation, including members our leadership team. The IBO evaluation team spent considerable time listening to our community, and the quality of the evaluation was strengthened by our community's willingness to share their experiences and perspectives.

The key staff involved throughout the evaluation were our team of International Baccalaureate Coordinators.
