What is the McCrindle Thriving schools Index?
The Thriving Schools Index (TSI) Is an independent diagnostic tool designed to measure the honest perspectives of parents, students and staff. It provides a high-level health check across six core domains: Student Development, Teaching, Student Wellbeing, Schooling Experience, Connection and Belonging, and Leadership.
Who were the researchers?
McCrindle are an Australian independent research company that have been studying social and community trends for 20 years. Through partnering with schools across New Zealand and Australia on hundreds of surveys with the TSI, they have identified key traits that thriving school communities have in common and provide a valuable basis of independent comparison between QMC and other schools in New Zealand and Australia.
Who took part in the research from QMC?
Every parent with a student at QMC was invited to take part. All students from Years 6-13 and all staff were encouraged to participate. Overall, more than 1,190 students, parents and staff participated in the research throughout July and August 2026.
How is QMC using this research?
This evidence-based approach gives us a clear idea of QMC’s unique strengths and confidence in the direction we have set through the Strategic Plan. It reveals opportunities for growth and any emerging risks to address. We are proud of the findings, but we are equally committed to using them as a springboard for ongoing growth and continuing to listen and learn from our QMC community.
