Opportunities for Growth from the TSI
Great schools don't stop at understanding their strengths. They use evidence to identify opportunities for growth.
While the findings of the Thriving Schools Index (TSI) reaffirmed many of the QMC's strengths, they also highlighted three focus areas where we see opportunities to further strengthen the experience of our students, parents, whānau and staff.
Strengthening our student wellbeing and resilience
The research confirmed that our community values more than academic success. Families want students to feel supported, develop resilience and be equipped to navigate challenges with confidence.
This aligns closely with QMC's Strategic Plan, where the Empowered intelligence guides our approach to wellbeing, fostering positive growth-focused development and preparing students to approach challenges with optimism and resilience.
Our commitment: We will continue to strengthen student wellbeing and resilience, ensuring every student feels supported to learn, grow and flourish.
Creating more opportunities for connection and belonging
While pride in QMC is very high, the research found that parents and staff would like more opportunities to feel connected to school life and to one another.
Schools are more than places of learning. They are places where relationships are formed, communities are built and people develop a sense of belonging. As our community continues to grow and evolve, we want to better understand what belonging looks like for different families and create more opportunities for meaningful connection.
This aligns closely with QMC's Strategic Plan, where the Empowered and Engaged intelligences guide our approach to fostering a profound sense of belonging and pride in being part of the College and how we'll cultivate an inclusive College environment through strong relationships and an emphasis on community hauora (wellbeing).
Our commitment: We want every member of our community to feel known, connected and valued.
Showcasing how we’re using emerging technologies and equipping students for the future
Our community strongly endorsed the importance of future-focused learning, critical thinking, research skills, AI literacy and preparing students for future careers.
The research highlighted an opportunity for us to better showcase how these capabilities are being developed across the College. This aligns closely with QMC's Strategic Plan, where the Futuristic and Prepared intelligences guide our approach to innovation, digital capability and future-ready learning.
At QMC, we are preparing students not just for their next qualification, but for a future that will require adaptability, creativity, critical thinking and lifelong learning.
Our commitment: We will continue to equip students with the knowledge, skills, capabilities and mindsets needed to thrive in an increasingly complex and rapidly evolving world. We will better showcase how these capabilities are being developed through learning experiences across QMC.
