Queen's Edge Years 7-9 Extra-Curricular Programme
Queen’s Edge is an exciting after-school extra-curricular programme designed especially for students in Year 7, 8 and 9.
Queen’s Edge courses aim to develop students’ skills, talents and passions, expand their knowledge and world view, cultivate essential life skills and foster a life-long love of learning.
Our tutors are passionate practitioners dedicated to inspiring and nurturing the next generation of courageous learners at QMC. In Term 1 of 2026 some of our courses are led by our prefects, inspiring younger ākonga and fostering a sense of sisterhood.

TERM 1 2026 - OPEN NOW!
Term 1 bookings opened at 12pm on Monday 9 February. Classes will start in Week 5.
Courses run from Week 5 to Week 10 (week commencing Monday 23 February to the week commencing Monday 30 March). Each course has six sessions in Term 1.
Bookings will close at 5pm on Sunday 22 February or when classes reach capacity.
Crown Creators
Content creation, visual communication and creative problem-solving
Unleash your creativity with Crown Creators! Led by Engagement Prefect Emerson Bosch with support from the QMC Marketing and Communications Team, this dynamic course introduces students to the exciting world of content creation. Students will learn how to craft compelling stories, capture great photos and videos, and design engaging digital content. Through hands‑on activities and collaborative projects, they will develop skills in storytelling, visual communication, editing, and creative problem‑solving. Crown Creators offers a supportive space for students to experiment, express themselves, and work as a team. By the end of the course, students will have the confidence and skills to create content that truly shines.

Viva Italia!
Italian language and culture
Ciao bella! Immerse yourself in the vibrant world of Italian language and culture with Viva Italia! This engaging course combines introductory Italian language learning with a deep dive into Italian culture and contemporary Italy. Highlights include learning to navigate an Italian town, taking a virtual visit to Rome, celebrating Martedì Grasso (Mardi Gras) by exploring Carnevale traditions and Italian masks, and participating in fun roleplaying exercises. This course is designed to boost language skills, enhance cultural awareness, and develop cognitive abilities. Students will gain a deep appreciation for Italy’s rich cultural heritage and ignite a passion for Italy that we hope will be life-long. Viva Italia!

Queen of Hearts
Service and community volunteering
Become a Queen of Hearts and experience the joy of giving back and making a difference!
The Queen of Hearts programme offers students a chance to engage in meaningful service activities and develop civic responsibility. Students will participate in projects that benefit both the school and the wider community, including our school charities Wellington Free Ambulance, Embracing Hearts and Who Did You Help Today?
Guided by Service Prefect Teresa Li, students will gain leadership skills, enhance teamwork and collaboration skills, build self-confidence, and cultivate empathy. By the programme's end, students will proudly claim their crown as compassionate and proactive future leaders.

Dates for each term
- Term 1: Courses run from Week 5 to Week 10 (week commencing Monday 24 February to week commencing Monday 30 March). Each course has five sessions.
- Term 2: Courses run from Week 2 to Week 8 (week commencing Monday 5 May to week commencing Monday 16 June). Each course has seven sessions, except courses held on Monday and Tuesday, which have six sessions in Term 2.
- Term 3: Courses run from Week 2 to Week 8 (week commencing Monday 28 July to week commencing Monday 8 September). Each course has seven sessions.
- Term 4: Courses run from Week 2 to Week 8 (week commencing Monday 13 October to week commencing Monday 24 November). Each course has seven sessions.
About charges and refunds
- All Queen's Edge courses are charged per term to your QMC Account. Our booking system, Trybooking, will list the event as ‘free’, this is because the fee will not be taken by Trybooking, but instead charged to your QMC Account.
- In order to cover the upfront costs associated with conducting the Queen's Edge programme and courses, refunds are not available if a student is not able to attend any of the days.
