At QMC we endeavour to create students who have sound leadership skills, responsiveness to the environment and their community. Our students access diverse opportunities to practice collaboration, compassion and confidence. Discover some of the charities and partnerships we support as part of this.
Wellington Free Ambulance
QMC is proud to be a partner charity of Wellington Free Ambulance.
Our partnership enables students to build a connection with Wellington Free Ambulance as they raise funds through bake sales, mufti-days and other fundraising activities. They learn the importance of giving back to the community and see that their support will continue to keep the ambulance service free for many years to come.
QMC is proud to partner with the Who Did You Help Today? Trust.
Who Did you Help Today? Trust connects volunteers with meaningful opportunities to support communities and whānau, and create a more equitable and sustainable Aotearoa New Zealand. Our partnership with Who Did You Help Today? enables QMC students to connect with meaningful causes through initiatives like the Homework Club, Mothers Project, and HelpTank. By taking part in fundraising activities including distributing sports and school essentials, students learn the value of helping others and see firsthand how small actions can make a big difference.
Embracing Hearts aims to give a life-saving automated external defibrillator (AED) to every school or preschool in New Zealand with a student or staff member born with a congenital heart defect. QMC service clubs in Years 5-9 worked with Embracing Hearts to fundraise in the community for an AED for Hobson Street, benefitting both QMC and the Thorndon Community. We are currently working on fundraiser for a second AED to gift to another school.
This Māori-owned small business runs on the kaupapa 'whānau cooking for whānau' and teaches our rangatahi the value of maanakitanga and caring for those in our community in need. QMC students and others from the QMC community take part in regular cook-ups, preparing meals for those in need. These meals are stored in our communal freezer in the Old Gym and distributed to those in need at six locally-based secondary schools in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington.
