Cross-Curricular Programme

The Cross-Curricular Programme has been developed to provide QMC Junior School students with the opportunity to pursue their personal interests while reinforcing the attributes of the IB Learner Profile and Approaches to Learning – research skills, social skills, thinking skills, communication skills and self-management skills.

The programme’s offering is broad and allows students of all ages to extend their potential beyond the classroom.

Places are limited and are issued on a first-come basis.

The Term 1 Programme runs from Week 2 to Week 9.

EXTENDED PICK UP TIME TO 5.30PM - new for 2023 you can extend the pick up time from 4.30pm to 5.30pm for $80 per Term per club!

Chess Club

We are running a chess-club experiment to give your tamariki an opportunity to become familiar with this ancient strategy game.

Chess Club allows students to become familiar with this ancient abstract strategy game. The sessions mostly follow the established Common Core Aligned Chess Curriculum and are designed to be fun and engaging for everyone, even if your daughter has never seen a chess board before. Students will need to bring an A4 or A5 notebook to their chess classes.

Dance with Miss Bree in Dance Club, skills are not required, however, passion is essential!

Genius Hour

Inspired by the Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Genius Hour is aimed at encouraging students to follow and master a project of their choice.

Topics included could be mastering skills such as ICT game, website or app development. Book creation, language learning, art, drama, music, sport. The skills gained through taking part in the Genius Hour are valuable for our students both in school and in later life.

Students gain confidence, independence, resilience and adaptability when embarking on these challenges.

Learn numbers 1–20, colours, animals, greetings, emotions and vocabulary through fun, interactive activities and games.

Students will learn about Japanese food, culture and festivals such as the Hina Matsuri (Dolls Festival) and Children's Day and create fun crafts to take home. No prior language knowledge required.

Each cross-curricular activity costs between $15 and $25 per session.

All Cross-Curricular Activities are charged per term to your QMC Account. The Trybooking system will list the event as ‘free’, this is because the fee will not be taken by the booking system, rather charged to your QMC account.

In order to cover the upfront costs associated with conducting the Cross-Curricular activities, refunds are not available if your child is not able to attend any of the days.

Extend pick up time from 4.30pm to 5.30pm. Students will attend After School Care following the completion of their club. The cost is $80 per club and is available for weeks 2 - 9. You can select this option through the Trybooking system and the $80 will be charged to your QMC account on top of the Cross Curricular fee.
