Scholarship terms and conditions

The Scholarships are for top students who benefit from the opportunities offered by our holistic education.

The scholarships are awarded on the basis of performance in an examination in English, Mathematics and a general scholastic ability test, as well as commitment to service, sport and culture. Following the examination, a short list of candidates will be selected and these students will be interviewed by the Principal.

A non-refundable acceptance fee of $460.00 is payable on acceptance of the scholarship for students who are not currently enrolled at Queen Margaret College.

The Year 7 scholarship is awarded for up to 4 years and provides for up to 50% of tuition fees.

The Year 9 scholarship is awarded for up to 3 years and provides for up to 50% of tuition fees.

Recipients of the Year 7 scholarship are not eligible to apply for the Year 9 scholarship.

The Senior scholarship is solely at the Principal’s discretion and can be awarded for up to 3 years and can provide for up to 50% of tuition fees.

Should the diligence, progress or behaviour of a scholarship recipient prove to be unsatisfactory, then the Principal and Board of Governors reserve the right to terminate the scholarship.

If the recipient leaves the College during the time of the scholarship to attend another Independent school, the value of the scholarship will be repaid.

The results of the examination will remain confidential to the College and the recipient.

The allocation of scholarships will be the decision of the Principal and no correspondence will be entered into.

Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or hold NZ resident status.
