Performing arts offers opportunity for girls to dress up and have fun
Three girls, Imogen Finlayson, Lauren Andrews and Olivia Chrisp have been selected for the Shakespeare Globe Centre NZ Young Shakespeare Company. QMC is the only school with three students in the company - an exceptional outcome. Comprised of just 24 students selected from over 5,500 students, the company will travel to England, attend workshops lead by world class directors and perform at the Globe Theatre.
Shruti Iyer successfully gained a place in the New Zealand National Youth Orchestra playing Violin for the 2012/2013 season.
The Sweet Margaritas submitted a DVD entry to the first International Young Women in Harmony Chorus Competition and placed third.
At the Sheilah Winn Wellington Regional Competition 2013, Bronwyn Ensor directed a five-minute excerpt from Hamlet and was awarded Best Student Director.
The QMC Debating team were runners up at the Wellington Region Debating Competition 2013. Jessica Palairet was awarded ‘Best Tournament Speaker'. Both Jessica Palairet and Tamara Jenkin were selected as members of the Wellington Regional Debating team to compete at Nationals.
At the Wellington Region Young Singers in Harmony Barbershop Competition 2013 the Sweet Margaritas finished third at the Regionals, and will attend the Nationals in Auckland.
At the Wellington Regional Chamber Music Competition 2013 Shruti Iyer, Shweta Iyer and Jessica Palairet, members of the ‘Provence Trio', were awarded first prize. They have also been selected as one of only 12 groups to compete at the National Finals.
