IB Diploma Students 100% pass rate
Congratulations to the Year 13 2011 IB Diploma cohort for achieving a 100% pass rate (World pass rate for 2010 was 78%).
All of the 31 girls who sat the two year qualification were awarded the diploma with two girls, Megan Vincent and Hannah Liddell, gaining 41 and Jessie Lamerton, a score of 40 (a maximum mark is 45). Three other girls, Betty Chung (39) , Victoria Girvan (38) and Kate Arthur (38) also achieved high scores.
The QMC mean score was 32 (World mean in 2010 was 30).
12 girls scored a 7 or a number of 7s (full marks) in a subject and there were 22 7s (full marks) gained in a range of subjects: English, Spanish, Chemistry, Mathematics SL, Mathematical Studies, Geography, Business and Management, Physics, Environmental Systems and Society.
The IB Diploma is marked on a world-wide scale, where each subject is graded from 1 (lowest) to 7 (highest possible score) for all six subjects. Marks are also allocated for the 4,000 word Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge. Students must get a total of 24 points and fulfil other criteria in order to receive the IB Diploma.
The marks are internationally moderated so that the same standards apply throughout the world.
