Library

The QMC library is located at the heart of the school and is a large, sunny area conducive to study and reading. The library's junior collection is located on the mezzanine floor and the senior in the main part of the library. As well as fiction and non-fiction books there is an extensive range of current magazines, periodicals and newspapers and rapidly expanding DVD, graphic novels and audio book collections.

The library has 14 PCs, which are available for study and research, and students have access to a wide range of electronic resources. The library page on magnet provides off-site access to the library's catalogue. There is a library blog where students can keep in touch with what's happening in the library.

The QMC Library Cupcake Club, a book and reading quiz club for years 6 to 8 meets every Monday lunchtime at 1.15pm. During the winter terms there is a lunchtime chess club and the Books for Breakfast group, a before school book discussion group for years 9 to 13. A staff book club meets throughout the year.

The library hosts regular lunchtime events such as musical concerts and drama performances. Displays in the library are changed regularly and students' work is also displayed there.
A full-time qualified librarian and a library assistant staff the library and are assisted by an enthusiastic team of student librarians, led by the head student librarian, who work together to promote the library and a love of books and reading.

The library is open from 8.00am to 4.30pm daily and during the September holidays.
