Learning Support

At Queen Margaret College we treat each girl as an individual and cater for her different learning needs through small group teaching and targeted help. Class sizes never exceed 26 students and most classes are much smaller. A Learning Support teacher works with Year 1- 8 girls to improve literacy. In Years 9 and 10 the Additional English programme caters for students who need help with their literacy skills. This class is taken instead of a second language option in Year 9 and Year 10.

A specialist mathematics teacher has time to support numeracy in the Junior School. In Years 7 and 8 an extra Mathematics class is established to ensure that students' needs are met. Extra teacher support is also provided for Year 9 and 10 Mathematics. An afterschool Mathematics Clinic is run by teaching staff one day a week.

Extra staff such as Learning Assistants in the Junior School, teacher aides and Second Language Assistantes provide students with additional support.
