QMC Extra-Curricular Choral Activities available for Senior Students 2011
The following activities are offered:
Queen Margaret Chorale
Co-Director: Ms Louise Logan and Ms Janey Mackenzie
Rehearsals: Tuesdays 3.30 p.m. - 5.30 p.m. and sectional rehearsals as required.
Cost: $150
The school's premier choir is an auditioned group made up of Year 10-13 girls. It has a high profile within the school, singing at all its major events and participating regularly in the National Big Sing Finale, as well as working in combination with the Queen's Singers and Scots College.
All Comers Choir
Director: Louise Logan
Rehearsals: Thursday Lunch
This is an un-auditioned choir, for girls from Year 9 to 13. Emphasis is on having fun singing a wide variety of music together.
Barbershop - Sweet Margaritas
Director: Mr Tim Jenkin
Rehearsals: Thursday 3.40pm - 5.00pm
Cost: $30
This group was formed in 2004 and has been selected for the National Final of the Barbershop Competition six times. Fun and relaxed but challenging, the Sweet Margaritas has grown fron 15 to currently having 55 members.
They were New Zealand Champions in 2009 and runners up in 2010.
Barbershop Quartets
Quartets are formed as required. They perform at school and compete in the Secondary School Barbershop Competition. In 2010 our Quartet gained eighth place in the national competition.
