Academic Programmes

 

International students are given an introduction to English while they are being integrated into their course of study. English language tuition continues throughout their academic course and assistance with mainstream subjects is provided.

Students accumulate an International Portfolio of Certificates and Diplomas to demonstrate scholarship and command of the English Language. A typical portfolio might contain:

  • Cambridge University Examinations for Speakers of English as a Second Language
  • Key English Test (KET)
  • Preliminary English Test (PET)
  • First Certificate in English (FCE)
  • Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)
  • Certificate in Proficiency in English (CPE)
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB Diploma)

 

Queen Margaret College is the only school for girls in Wellington which offers the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma - a qualification ideally suited to international students. With this two year qualification, almost every university in the world is open to girls with the IB Diploma. Students study English as well as their own language and choose a wide variety of other subjects.

Subjects include English, French, Japanese, Latin, art, design, photography, technology, computer studies, information management, drama media studies, economics, music, classical studies, geography, history of art, mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, physical education, materials technology and design technology.
